While University Financial Policy I-140 permits University-owned property to be used off-campus, it is important to remember that University purchased property never becomes the property of the user regardless of the length of time it is in the user’s possession.  An item is considered University-purchased property if IU paid for the transaction, regardless of funding source. 

We recognize that over time, faculty or staff may come to regard equipment or other goods as their own, but it remains the property of the University until such time as the University disposes of the property as outlined In Purchasing Policy 14.0 and Policy 14.1
