The arrival of the Spanish conquistadors to what is now modern-day Dominican Republic marked the beginning of the "New World", forever changing the lives of people acorss the globe.

Archaeolgical evidence from the Caribbean Indians prior to European conquest, and its subsequent changes, improve our understanding of the cultural shifts which took place.
