Ceramic Artifacts: the plate to the right illustrated
The first Caribbean Indians to have contact with Europeans were the Taino
on Hispanola. The contact is evident in the ceramics produced after contact.
"Isabela Polychrome" ceramics are known for their blue and manganese colored designs, parallel bands, and obvious European influences. This variety of artifact is from the early 16th century.
