Off-Air Videotaping and DVD Duplication
Within the framework of U.S. copyright law Off-Air Videotaping Guidelines, Educational Services will arrange to videotape broadcasts of WTIU public television programs for classroom use. The copyright guidelines require that the program be used in class within ten days of the airing. The instructor is permitted to keep the program for another thirty days for evaluation. At the end of the 40 days the program must be erased. If a particular program is needed for long-term instructional use, Educational Services will help locate the distributor of that program. Media and Reserve Services, located in the Indiana University Library, may be able to purchase the program for its campus video collection.
Educational Services will also make duplicate copies of existing videotapes, providing that you have received written permission from the program’s producers. Duplicate copies can be made in DVD, IMX, Beta SP, and VHS formats.
