Be More Engaged

Lisa Kroll reads to her daughter.

Lisa Kroll

Lisa Kroll, mother of two and part-time reading instructor, is a volunteer on the Community Advisory Board. She is passionate about the benefits of children's programming and its ability to help parents get their children off a good start.

"For our family, it's really important that there are no commercials. It's refreshing to be able to turn on public television and know that it's good quality TV for my children and I like the fact that we can support that," she says.

Kroll says the programs offered on public television, such as Between the Lions, give parents a tool to help their children prepare for school. "I think it's a great tool for a parent to use in addition to taking the time to read with [kids] every day. I think that's a wonderful benefit that WTIU offers."

Community Advisory Board

The WTIU Community Advisory Board assists WTIU in fulfilling its mission to inform, inspire, educate and entertain its audiences. Community Advisory Board members strive to do this by representing various constituencies among the 20+ counties that WTIU serves, monitoring and evaluating programs, giving voice to underserved populations, serving as a sounding board for ideas presented by WTIU staff, and bringing issues of community concern to the attention of station management.

WTIU Community Advisory Board meetings are held on the first Thursday in March, June, September and December at noon in the Metz Board Room at the Virgil T. DeVault Alumni Center. WTIU's license is held by the Trustees of Indiana University. Their meeting schedule can be found online.

If you're interested in volunteering for the WTIU Community Advisory Board, a short note is all that's required. Just tell us a little about yourself, why you'd like to be a part of this group, and the best way to get in touch with you. Correspondence should be addressed to Phil Meyer, WTIU Station Manager, 1229 East Seventh Street, Bloomington, IN 47405; or by e-mail to .
