WTIU Producer of Children's Programming (PA13)

Position Summary:
The Producer of Children’s Programming will research, develop, manage and edit local children’s programming for WTIU — including the Emmy Award-winning program The Friday Zone — under the supervision of the WTIU Station Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The major tasks performed include translating educational objectives into television segments ideas, research, scriptwriting, production process management (including budget and quality control), editing, evaluation and working with children and their families.

Qualifications:
Outstanding communications skills are required. The successful candidate must have an undergraduate degree in telecommunications, or a humanities major that requires extensive communications skills, such as English, History, Social Studies or Literature. A minor in Education or Media Literacy would be ideal.

A Masters’ Degree in any of these fields would be desirable, but not required.

Extra consideration given to candidates who have experience
as on-camera talent.

Three years of experience as a television producer, director or writer, preferably in live — or live-to-tape — children’s television.

The candidate must be able to drive a car or van and have a valid Indiana driver’s license or be capable of getting one.
