Herman B Wells Memorial Sculpture, Indiana University, Bloomington
A sculpture of the university's eleventh president and first chancellor, Herman B Wells (1902-2000), is located in the Old Crescent area of campus. To celebrate his life and legacy, the university commissioned a sculpture shortly after Wells passed away in early 2000. The bronze sculpture was created by IU South Bend Professor Tuck Langland and was dedicated October 21, 2000.
WTIU has produced two programs about Herman B Wells; The Vision of Herman B Wells explores Wells' philosophy during his lengthy service to the university as president and chancellor. A Celebration of a Life: Remembering Herman B Wells records the university ceremony honoring Wells after his death in 2000, and includes many distinguished speakers.
