Students

The following positions exist at WTIU. Not all positions are hiring at this time. Please visit WTIU to fill out an application or contact the appropriate staff member to find out if the position you are interested in is open.

Many student opportunities are available through volunteer, internships and part-time paid positions with training provided.

Positions may report to WTIU (public television), Radio & TV Services (production and administration), or WFIU (public radio).

Note your areas of interest below and visit the office listed during regular business hours, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. The Radio and TV Building is located on the west side of the Main Library Parking Lot, directly north of the Fine Arts Building.

WTIU Control

Direct the live station breaks and newsbreaks. Monitor on-air station presentation and programming. Applicants must be able to work well under pressure, multi-task and fully concentrate on job at hand.

WTIU Traffic Assistants

Assist the Traffic Supervisor with WTIU tape library, organizing program tapes, proofread WTIU program logs, enter tape or program material into database.

WTIU On-Air Promotions

Support on-air promotion/production; copy-writing audio tags and VOCAs, assisting production of local promotional spots, organizing/digitizing on-air materials for on-air playback.

WTIU Marketing

Provide editorial and promotional support including publications/print and special events.

WTIU Educational Outreach

Assist with WTIU Kid's Club and children's programming material - Ready to Learn fairs, mailings, and school outreach activities. Assist with WTIU's own children's program, THE FRIDAY ZONE.

Radio & TV Services Production

Work on studio and field production crew including set construction, studio set up and lighting, camera operation, technical directing, teleprompter, floor managing, electronic graphics, audio, mini cam, and grip.

Radio & TV Services Online

Assist with WFIU and WTIU Web projects through design, programming, podcasting, social networking, online promotion, and more.

Radio & TV Services Graphic Design

Assist graphic design staff in producing promotion and information materials utilized in print, on-air and online. Some graphic design skills, Macintosh computer knowledge, and portfolio required.

Broadcast Internship-Assist with WTIU Newsbreaks, WFIU Newscasts, and online news uploading. Non-linear editing and significant writing experience wanted. On-camera performance limited to television news classes.
