Tony Perkins

Former WTIU News Director Perkins, formerly of WISH-TV in Indianapolis, is now with Chinese State Television (CCTV), working on English-language coverage of the Beijing 2008 Olympics. He will still be seen on WTIU in archived WEEKLY SPECIAL segments.

Perkins began his broadcast career at WTIU while a student at Indiana University in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He worked as a schedule director while majoring in Telecommunications at IU. Schedule directors are responsible for managing the breaks between programs and the news breaks. Perkins also worked at WTTS radio, which was then an AM station when he last lived in Bloomington.

From Bloomington, Perkins went to WTVK-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee to work as a television reporter. He also has worked at WROK-AM in Rockford, Illinois and WISN-TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has been at WISH TV in Indianapolis for 10 years.
