Watershed Management

Daniel E. Willard, Professor of Public and Environmental Affairs, Indiana University Bloomington, combines his interests in natural history, ecology, and wetlands biology to examine watershed management. Willard and his graduate student researchers use many tools in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) laboratory to look at watershed management in new ways. Maps generated using GIS databases, such as this map of the Lake Monroe watershed in southern Indiana, allow the combination of information from several different data sources so that the consequences of potential watershed management policies can be predicted and examined before they are put in place.
