Steve Brown, a Glacial Geologist at the Indiana University
Northwest Campus at Gary office of the Indiana Geological Survey, works with
Cartographic Specialist Rea Kersey on a map of the Lake Michigan Rim area of
Indiana. The area's highly urbanized and industrial character and its unique
environmental attributes create a variety of pressing environmental problems and
concerns. In an effort to provide geologic information for a diverse community of
citizens, regulators, planners, developers, park managers, and environmental
groups, the IGS has undertaken the geologic mapping of this three-county area,
which makes up the largest industrial complex in Indiana.
