MastalerzMaria Mastalerz, a Coal Geologist/Sedimentologist, Indiana Geological Survey, Indiana University Bloomington, with gas displacement apparatus. This device measures how much gas is desorbed from coal. Gas desorption measurements from a coal sample take from several days to several months and are carried out from the time the core arrives at the surface until the sample does not give off any gas.
