Strange Lights in the Sky...

It was dark and foggy as we walked home. It had just stopped raining, and we could see the last flickers of lightning in the distance. There was no sound, except for the drip of rain water as it fell from the leaves of the nearby trees. Someone shouted, and we looked toward the hill where we saw strange lights flashing in the sky.

As we were listening to the voices, we noticed there was something different about them. They sounded like the voices of ALIENS, so we decided to go see if they really were aliens. On our way out there to see if they needed help, they started to get back in the spaceship so we started to run after them. We almost caught them! We got so close that we jumped and only two of us got hold of the spaceship. We were going to let go as soon as we got hold of it but we couldn't let go because the spaceship started taking off. We wouldn't let go because we were afraid we were going to get hurt if we fell to the ground.

After we were about two miles into the air and about out of oxygen, the aliens realized that someone was on the outside of their ship. They decided to land the space craft and take the two humans captive. When they landed the humans started to run away from the spacecraft, so the aliens zapped them both with stun guns. When they were taken aboard, all the humans could remember was seeing bright light and dreaming for what seemed to be an eternity.

When they woke up, everything seemed different. They looked at their hands. They seemed long & almost green. When they looked up, they saw a tiny planet. It had blue, brown & green all over it. It couldn't be. They were imagining things. There wasn't enough oxygen on any other planet. Then, they felt something pulling them. They looked for something to grab on to, but there was nothing. It was too late to run. They only remember being sucked up into the grip of something slimy.

As the slime covered my arms, I looked up at what seemed to be a giant , ugh, ugh, a slug! Or was it maybe a frog! I wasn't sure, sort of a cross between the two!

As the frog/slug, or "frug", pulled us into the spaceship we realized the slime was only galactic mildew which had settled on us during takeoff. The frug seemed just as frightened as we were, so after we overcame our fear we tried to communicate with "him". It sounds stupid, but we asked him to "take us to your leader"! We were pleasantly surprised at what happened next.

Out came a giant blue turtle, with a small shiny whistle hanging from braided seaweed around his neck. The frug quickly slurped up a nearby buzzing bug on his tongue and offered it to the turtle. The turtle regarded us, and then the bug, with similar indifference. As the shelled giant ambled past, I picked up the bug and ate it. I did this quickly, as I had become rather hungry. The turtle turned his leathery head back toward us, and said:

"Would you like the frug to catch some more bugs for you? We mean you no harm. We are just curious about your strange form. We have often visited your planet to retrieve new insects to feed our masses. Our planet is dying..."

"....Please help us. Kindly guide us to a doctor." Then we took the alien to Dr. David, who was also a research scientist. He was very excited to see the alien. The alien said....

"We've been searching for several centuries now for a solution to our galactic bug problem! We can successfully export your ticks, locusts, flies, mozzies and other pests to our planet and will take them there with lots of rotten decaying compost and good solid dung to eat. This new food source will return our dying planet and our frug and turtle friends to health."

Dr. David exclaimed, "Ah, I have waited my whole life to meet beings from another world! I will do my best to help you."
The turtle leader smiled since this man was going to help his people. "Oh, thank you!" he said.

The doctor said, "You are a very interesting species. We have similar creatures on our planet but they are not as advanced as you." After saying this, the doctor reached into his aquarium and pulled out a lovely african frog. The alien began speaking to the frog in garbled alien speech. The frog responded back wth excited chirping and croaking. It seemed the alien could speak with Earth animals!

The doctor looked on in astonishment as the frug talked on in animal language with the african frog. The conversation ended abruptly and the alien began talking to the doctor in English. They made an agreement. The alien would get a few bugs from earth and would take them back with him to his planet. There the aliens would mate the bugs with a special chemical that the doctor gave them and they would end up with millions of bugs to feed to their race. Then...

...grabbed the bugs and headed for the ship. Once the aliens had landed on their home planet they rounded up everyone they could. All the Frugs and the Frugs' bugs piled into their ships and headed for earth. Most of them escaped before the cosmic gases reached the planet. Before long thousands of alien ships had landed on earth. Nobody had expected this, and most people thought they were hostile. People began killing Frugs, Frugs began killing people. Nobody could stop it, except one research scientist, Dr. David.

"...Tracy. Tracy was a doctor from Muncie, Indiana. She said I could live with her until I got a job. I liked her very much because she put me in school, so I could learn everything that humans do. Everybody kept on saying,"Where did you come from?" I said Pluto. And now they think I am weird. What should I do?"

...said,"We are too!" I had stumbled across a whole group of Frugs who had survived the trip from Pluto and started a new life on Earth too. We decided to learn all about planet Earth and its creatures. "Dr.David" said one of the Frugs, "Please help us, we don't want to die."

He went on. "So I opened my own lab so that I could do research and try to help my fellow Frugs."
Meanwhile the war between the Frugs and the humans raged on across the land, as each day brought fleets of spaceships full of Frugs fleeing their poisonous planet. Everyone knew that Dr. David was the only being that could bring about an end to the conflict. Dr. David knew that there was only one hope. It was . . .
