Shay Dawson, Director

Shay Dawson, M.A., CTRS, is an astute and perceptive leader, managing and maximizing the resources available to him achieving significant results for Bradford Woods. Shay is an adjunct lecturer in the Recreation Therapy Program within the Department of Recreation Park and Tourism Studies at Indiana University teaching the Recreational Therapy Interventions Course as well as working on therapeutic outdoor programming research projects. His area of research interest is Therapeutic Outdoor Programs specifically related to efficacy studies on the benefits of camp for children and adults with disabilities and chronic illness.

Shay has held various administrative practioner roles working with individuals with disabilities. Aside from his work at Bradford Woods, he was Therapy Team Supervisor at Bethesda Hospital, Director of a family respite program for youth with specific medical and behavioral needs, along with numerous other educational and professional accolades in his career.

Bradford Woods

Bradford Woods, Indiana University's Outdoor Center, has been supporting the academic mission of the School of Health, Physical Education, and Reacreation and the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies since 1939. It is an international outdoor leader in the delivery of therapeutic, educational, and recreational programming while offering experiential learning opportunities for students and cutting edge research opportunities for faculty.
