Notes:
Photographs were taken 3 times daily.
Site comparisons were only undertaken when the slide code was 1, 2, 3 or 4. Bscat data were only
when a QA code of 0 was assigned.
The distance to the visual targets differs from scene to scene.
Visual codes 1-4 indicate that camera operation and meteorological conditions were normal. A
code of 1 indicates the best visibility (i.e. that the farthest target is visible). A code of 4 indicates
worst visibility (i.e. that the nearest target is not visible).
Matching codes for visual code from the photographs and visual range extrapolated from
the bscat measurements from the nephelometers.

Notes:
A matching code of 0 was assigned when the visual range extrapolated from the nephelometer
data was in the same range as that extrapolated from the slides. A code of 1 was assigned when
the visual range from the nephelometer indicated a category different than that extrapolated
from the slides and the visual range from the nephelometer indicted better visibility than the
estimate from the slides. A code of 2 was assigned when the visual range from the nephelometer
indicated a category different than that extrapolated from the slides and the visual range from
the nephelometer indicted worse visibility than the estimate from the slides.
Slides coded 5 which indicates unsuitable meteorological conditions were excluded from this
analysis, as were slides with visual codes of 0 and 6.
