Group Assignment
In order to vary the learning experience and to divide the labor of the course, we will participate in one group assignment. On 9/29 you will be constituted as four separate groups with each group being assigned one landmark Supreme Court case relevant to the issue of seditious libel. It will be your task to research the controversy leading up to the case (providing more information than is available in Tedford and Herbeck), provide an brief of the case, including a summary of the arguments made on both sides of the issue, and to develop a rhetorical analysis and evaluation of the Supreme Court’s decision. On 10/6 and 10/8 the groups will make 25 minute oral presentations and answer questions from the class. A more detailed description of the assignment will be posted on the course website at the appropriate time.
