The Workshop on Democratic Culture is a project organized by the Department of Communication and Culture at Indiana University intended to forward and promote the rhetorical critique of "democracy" as it is performed and mediated in the contemporary world. Our goal is to analyze, interpret, and evaluate the practice of democratic culture, thus constituting a more progressive socio-political culture through a critical process. Because the communicative dimensions of contemporary democratic practice are complex, multiple and multi-discinplinary critical perspectives are needed. Our work also is comparative, intended to engage in a critical conversation with disparate democratic practices as they are emerging and developed around the globe.
