Lieutenant Colonel Eric D. Arnold

LTC Eric Drew Raye Arnold began his military career in 1987 as a Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) cadet in the Scout Platoon, 3-116th Infantry, Virginia Army National Guard. His first active duty assignment was with the 2d Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC where he served as the Battalion Chemical Officer, Anti-Tank Platoon Leader, D Company Executive Officer and finally as the Battalion Assistant Operations Officer. During this assignment he participated in Operation Just Cause in Panama, Operations Desert Shield/Storm in Saudi Arabia/Iraq and Operation Hurricane Andrew Relief in South Florida. He was then assigned to Fort Drum, NY where he served as the 2d Brigade Chemical Officer and as the Company Commander for the Division Headquarters and Headquarters Company. During this assignment, LTC Arnold served in Haiti during Operations Restore/Uphold Democracy. Following this assignment he returned to Ft. Bragg where he served a functional area utilization tour as a Civil Affairs Officer in the 96th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne).

As a Civil Affairs Tactical Support Team commander, he deployed to Macedonia where he served as the U.S. Task Force Civil Affairs Chief in support of the United Nations Preventive Deployment Force and Operation Able Sentry, protecting Macedonia's northern border with Serbia. Following this deployment, he was chosen to serve as the Battalion Civil Affairs Officer (S-5) for one of only two forward deployed Special Forces Battalions in the Army - 1st Battalion, 10th Special Force Group (Airborne) at Panzer Kaserne, Boeblingen, Germany. LTC Arnold deployed throughout the Balkans with the battalion during Operation Noble Anvil, NATOs decisive air campaign during the Kosovo conflict. Returning to the chemical branch, LTC Arnold moved to Heidelberg, Germany where he served as the V Corps NBC Logistics Officer. He deployed to Taszar, Hungary in support of Operation Joint Guardian, where he commanded Taszar Support Base, a 2,000+ employee facility which provided the lions share of logistics support to U.S. forces throughout the Balkans. Upon returning to Germany, LTC Arnold deployed with the V Corps to Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served as the Headquarters Support Battalion Operations Officer. Upon redeployment from Iraq, LTC Arnold moved to Fort Monroe, Virginia where he served as the Human Resources Division Chief for the Total Army School System and then as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General U.S. Army Accessions Command, his last position prior to becoming the PMS of Indiana University at Bloomington.

LTC Arnold's awards include: the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (5 awards), Army Commendation Medal (4 awards), Joint Services Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (6 Awards) and numerous other service and campaign related ribbons and medals. He is a Master Parachutist and has earned the Combat Action Badge. He is a distinguished military graduate of James Madison University and holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from Troy University. He is married to Zsuzsanna Arnold, née Lonovics, of Szeged, Hungary. They have one child, Nandor.
