Pershing Rifles
Pershing Rifles is a nationwide military fraternity open to all branches of service and civilians. Created in 1894 by the General John "Black Jack" Pershing, the emphasis of the fraternity is brotherhood, military professionalism, and excellence in all aspects of rifle drill. Company A-3, located here at Indiana University, is one of the top rifle drill companies in the nation. Every year the members of Pershing Rifles compete at NATCON, the Pershing Rifles' national convention and drill competition. Not only does the company compete in drill competitions, but they participate in a number of other activities as well. The color guard for the IU Homecoming Parade every year is Pershing Rifles, as well as the presentation of the national colors at all major sporting events at IU, including Little 500. Veteran's Day ceremonies are also done by the company. A lot of rigorous training goes into being a member of Company A-3, but it is worth it to be in one of the best Pershing Rifles companies in the nation.
