President:  Michael Melwid- Special Events

mmelwid@indiana.edu

Hi!  I'm Michael Melwid and I'm the President of Indiana University's Student Athletic Board.  This organization has been an integral part of this campus for over 50 years and you have an opportunity to be a part of it and make a difference with this great university!  As President, I oversee the direction of SAB.  I meet with executives in the IU Athletic Department and with other campus leaders on the Dean's Advisory Board.  Please email me with any ideas you may have in improving student attendance at IU athletic events or other ways that SAB can help the student body.  If you are interested in becoming more active with SAB and would like to become a Chair, please email the corresponding Director to the area that interests you from the list below.  I look forward to seeing you at this year's SAB events!

Executive VP:  Jared Chasey- Varsity Club and Women's Golf

jchasey@indiana.edu

Hey Everyone!  I'm Jared Chasey and this is my second year as an SAB Director and my fourth year overall being involved with this great student organization.  Last year I served as the Director for Homecoming/Wrestling/Baseball.  I have now taken over the position of Executive Vice President, which means I oversee internal operations.  I assist the Board of Directors, internal databases, and the SAB website.  I am also the Director that serves as the liaison between SAB and the IU Varsity Club.  My Chairs are the student volunteers for Varsity Club events.  In addition, we help with Women's Golf and assist the coaches with any assistance they may need for Golf events.  I hope you will come out to IU Athletic Event and talk to an SAB Director about opportunities to get involved!

VP of Communications:  Neale Johantgen- Football and Men's Tennis

njohantg@indiana.edu

Greetings Hoosier fans. I'm Neale Johantgen, the Vice President of Communications and Director of Football and Men's Tennis. The VP of Communications is responsible for sending the Mass Emails, organizing the office, and developing the composite SAB schedule. As Director of Football, my chairs and I work to ensure the student section at football games does its part to DEFEND THE ROCK! Men's Tennis duties include attending all home matches and assisting managers in setting up the courts. Join me in cheering for the Hoosiers!

VP of Finance:  Evan Speicher- Football and Spring Football Events

espeiche@indiana.edu

Hi!  My name is Evan Speicher and I am the Director for Football. This is a great sport to be involved with because you get to watch the Hoosiers play every weekend! As my chair, you have to attend all the home games and be there for the Student Athletic Board tailgates. This year we will also be responsible for communicating to the student body the importance of purchasing Student Season Football Tickets.  It is a fun time and you get to meet a lot of people. I hope you all consider being involved with Football!

Kyle Baldwin- Track & Field and Parent's Weekend

kykbaldw@indiana.edu

My name is Kyle Baldwin; I am the Director for Track and Field and Parent’s Weekend for the Student Athletic Board.  We can always use help for Track and Field meets during indoor and outdoor seasons.  SAB helps with mostly field events such as pole vault, long jump, high jump, and throwing events, as well as helping providing programs to fans and assisting officials.  We also help organize activities for Football's Parent’s Weekend by setting up the luncheon and helping out with the announcement of seniors at the game.

Matt Barr- Field Hockey and Men's Golf and Softball

mtbarr@indiana.edu

Hi, my name is Matt Barr and I am the Student Athletic Board Director for Field Hockey, Men’s Golf, and Softball. For Field Hockey, my chairs typically hand out programs to fans before the games. During the games, we basically serve as ball boys, shagging any wayward balls that go out of bounds. Field Hockey is a fall sport and there are typically around nine home games that we work. For Men’s Golf, our primary responsibility is to serve as spotters out in the fairway. During softball games, we work the SAB "Champion's Table", hand out programs, and coordinate the “Dot Race.”

Elizabeth Hilton- Volleyball and Softball

eahilton@indiana.edu

Hey Everyone, I'm Elizabeth Hilton! Our main responsibility for Softball is to set up the SAB table and pass out programs and bingo cards.  For the "Dot Race", we need three volunteers to take the three wooden dots outside the fence by the foul post and run all the way to the other foul post.  This is a fun event we do between.  Volleyball requires several volunteers!  There are five stations along the outside of the court, two speed wipers, one person throwing free t-shirts for every ace, and at least one person to pass out programs and other freebies at the SAB "Champion's Table".  Both sports are a lot of fun and a great way to get involved! J

Jenny Kearney- Volleyball and Softball

jenkearn@indiana.edu

Hi!  I'm Jenny and I'm one of the Director's for Volleyball and Softball.  For Volleyball, we are trying to increase the student attendance to all home matches.  We need many student volunteers that will help shag balls, speed wipe, and organize the SAB "Champion's Table" at all home matches.  We also cheer the girls on to victory and support them with all our hearts.  Volleyball matches are a blast!  We hope you join us, whether its to volunteer or simply watch and cheer on our Lady Hoosiers!  For Softball, we help promote the games and encourage students to attend the event!  At softball games you can play bingo and sign up to win cool prizes.  We will work the SAB "Champions Table" where people can sign up to receive emails from IU Athletics.  Hope to see you at a Volleyball in the Fall or Softball in the Spring!

Kelly Levin- Women's Soccer and Baseball

kelevin@indiana.edu

My name is Kelly Levin and I am the Director for Women’s Soccer and Baseball. During the baseball season we help with promotions, retrieve foul balls, and support the team in any way we can. It is a fun atmosphere to come out and enjoy the games. Soccer season involves marketing, promotions, and any other areas where we are needed. Our women’s team has been improving each year, so it’s very exciting to see what they will do in the Fall! As a chair or mass member you will be able to help out with either sport, and hopefully become a big fan of soccer and baseball!  GO HOOSIERS!!!

Taryn Lyman- Swimming/Diving and Softball

tlyman@indiana.edu

Hi! I'm Taryn Lyman, and I'm a junior at IU. I'm the Director for Swimming and Diving, as well as Softball.  Swimming and Diving is a Winter sport.  SAB's participation is essential at every meet because we are responsible for providing timers for the event, and it’s really fun to be a part of all of the action. When we’re at the meet, you get to watch the swimmers and divers right from the floor of the pool. Softball is a Spring sport, and it is lower key than swimming and diving. Our job is to keep the crowd involved in the game, as well as to give out programs and softball gear.

Kristen Melwid- Marketing and Welcome Week and Membership

kmelwid@indiana.edu

Hi, my name is Kristen Melwid. I am the Director of Marketing for Student Athletic Board. As the newest branch of Student Athletic Board, our goal is to increase membership and promote our organization throughout campus using creative and unique marketing tools. I need fun and creative students to help advertise for various SAB events. This is a great opportunity for you to gain first-hand marketing experience and become more involved at Indiana University.

Kristin Nerz- Homecoming and Wrestling and Baseball

kenerz@indiana.edu

My name is Kristin Nerz and I am the Director for Homecoming, Wrestling, and Baseball.  For Homecoming, we are responsible for the organizing and successful completion of the King and Queen Contest, as well as the annual Homecoming Pep Rally.  For more information on Homecoming, please visit our Homecoming page of the website.  Baseball is a fun and popular sport at IU!  SAB helps with promotions, which includes handing out programs and distributing bingo cards. Our Winter sport is Wrestling, one of the top wrestling programs in the country! SAB’s responsibilities include promoting and cheering on the team.

Mallorie Newman- Men's Soccer and Baseball

mnnewman@indiana.edu

Hi, I'm Mallorie!  For Men’s Soccer and Baseball, our work is primarily promotional.  We work closely with the IU Athletics' Marketing Department and the assistant coaches to plan the promotional events that occur days before games or during games.  During Baseball, we work the SAB "Champion's Table" behind home plate and pass out programs, stickers, and schedules as well as try to get the fans to play Baseball Bingo and to sign up for the E-Newsletter.  During Soccer, we keep busy before games by passing out various promotional items and during the games by working the SAB "Champion's Table".  In the spring, we host the Mexican/IU soccer game, which always brings tons of fans and fun to Bill Armstrong Stadium.  This game and the Classic in the fall are our biggest games.  Don’t miss your chance to see our baseball and soccer athletes in action! It’s a lot of fun, and a great experience being a part of Indiana University Athletics.

Brendan O'Hara- Women's Basketball and Rowing

bcohara@indiana.edu

Hey Everyone! My name is Brendan O'Hara and I have been an active member in SAB since the Fall of my Freshman year, when I was a mass member.   I am currently the Director for Women’s Basketball and Rowing where I help out the coaches and athletes during their competition. My chairs are responsible for attending the competitions and take care of behind-the-scenes aspects with me.  This year we will be working closely with Coach Jack and Women's Basketball program on some fun and innovative ways on bringing students out to the Women's Basketball games to cheer on our Lady Hoosiers.

Jheremy Perkins- Track & Field and Cross Country

jkp@indiana.edu

Hi! I'm Jheremy Perkins, the Director for Track & Field and Cross Country.  The Cross Country season lasts throughout the Fall semester, and IU usually hosts two or three meets.  SAB provides volunteers for each meet; these volunteers usually sell programs, drive people in golf carts, collect apparel from runners, assist officials, and help staff the ropes at the finish line.  The Indoor Track and Field season begins in the winter and the Outdoor season in the Spring.  IU usually host about seven meets during the Spring semester.  The SAB volunteers assist the staff with all of the field events (i.e. pole vault, shot put, weight throws, etc.) and often with the hurdles, as well.

Jessica Pierucci- Women's Basketball and Women's Tennis and Water Polo

jpierucc@indiana.edu

I'm Jess Pierucci, the Director for Women's Basketball, Women's Tennis, and Water Polo.  Women's Basketball is one of the most exciting sports to get involved with.  Most of our efforts involve working behind the scenes in order to improve student attendance.  We work to organize several ways to encourage students to attend the games, such as raffles, games, and competitions.  The directors and chairs of this sport are often found spreading the word on campus by passing out flyers or chalking the sidewalks.  This year, we will also try to contact Greek Houses and Residence Halls for help in spreading our message.  During the games, we work the raffles and have a great time watching the game and cheering on our Lady Hoosiers. SAB plays an important role in Women's Tennis. One of the things we do is pick up food and drinks for the team during double headers or long matches.  We also pass out programs, set up the official's chairs, and help out with any last minute tasks a coach or player might need before or during a match.  At the end of the season, our main task is to organize the senior luncheon, which includes providing the food and beverages and decorating the room for the party.  Our primary job, however, is to let the team know we are always rooting for them by attending every game!  GO HOOSIERS!!!
