Connections to Diversity ProgramsGroupsThe Groups Program helps to support and retain first-generation, low-income, and physically challenged students. If you decide to attend IU Bloomington and are recommended to the program, the Groups Program will offer a vriety of services to you such as academic and personal advising, tutoring, mentoring, and financial aid counseling. This program selects about two hundred students each year. Some students need extra help making the transition from high school to college, so Groups starts you out early. In the summer before college, you'll live in a residence hall and take courses to strengthen your study, critical reading and writing, and math skills. The Groups Program is not housed in the Student Academic Center; rather, it is a unit of the Office of Academic Support and is housed in Maxwell Hall East. If you are interested in learning more about Groups, contact Janice Wiggins, Director at 855-0507 or e-mail her at groups@indiana.edu.
