Hammer & Nail

In April of each year, the Student Composer Association and the IU School of Dance present Hammer & Nail - a large-scale, collaborative project run across two departments. Student composer and choreographers work together to create new dance pieces, combining premiere composition and choreography. The results of this project are publicly presented free and open to the public at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in historic downtown Bloomington. Hammer & Nail showcases the latest in live performance works from two IU departments and is presented to sellout concerts every year.
Calls for participation are announced in September to all IU composers. Please contact a SCA officer if you wish to be involved in this truly unique composition experience.

SoFA Gallery Series

Each year the Student Composer Association works in collaboration with the School of Fine Arts Gallery at IU to present live concerts of student compositions within the gallery space. Composers present works written especially for the gallery, using the unique musical acoustics of the space, or reacting to the seasonal art exhibitions. All concerts are free and open to the general public.
