- Undergraduates must be enrolled in a total of at least six credit hours during the summer to receive summer aid.
- Graduate students must be enrolled in a total of at least four credit hours during the summer to receive summer aid.
- Students must be making satisfactory academic progress in order to be considered for summer aid. Students should review the satisfactory academic progress requirements at www.iub.edu/~sfa/receiving/sap.html.

Availability of Summer Aid
- Students who received Federal Stafford Loans up to their full annual eligibility during the previous academic year semesters are not eligible for Federal Stafford Loans in the summer. Borrower eligibility for Federal Stafford loans will begin again the following academic year.
- For most students, summer aid consists of private student loans and/or Federal Parent/Graduate PLUS Loans. To apply for these loans you will need to complete the loan application(s) along with the Summer Aid Application. More information about these loans can be found at www.iub.edu/~sfa/types/loans.html.
- If a student received Federal Work-Study (FWS) during the previous academic year, and is interested in FWS during the summer, the student should complete the Summer Aid Application and then contact their employer about potential employment opportunities. The employer will then work with our office to determine their eligibility.
- Any change in enrollment could result in a change to your financial aid eligibility. Decreases in enrolled credit hours, non-attendance in a class, or a total or unofficial withdrawal from summer classes may result in changes to your aid. You may lose eligibility for aid you've already received, including returning funds already received. We may also cancel any pending disbursements, and/or deny the processing of any new loan requests.
