Loans: Federal Direct Loan Online Master Promissory Note (MPN)

Student borrowers sign the MPN for Stafford and Graduate PLUS loans. Parents need to sign the MPN for Parent PLUS loans.

Before you begin the online MPN process, please make sure to have the following information available to you. Having the information available prior to the online MPN application will help you complete the process successfully.

  • Your PIN issued to you by the Department of Education.
  • Your Social Security number
  • Your driver's license number
  • Your permanent address and telephone number
  • Information for two references, including; name, addresses, and telephone numbers

Please note: The MPN must be completed before loan funds are able to be credited to the student bursar account. All loan proceeds can disburse no earlier than 10 days before the start of classes.

STUDENTS: After logging in using your information, select the “Complete Master Promissory Note” link then choose “Subsidized/Unsubsidized” loan type. Then complete the MPN form.

PARENTS: Sign-in to your account using your information. Then select the “Complete Master Promissory Note” link then choose the “Parent PLUS” loan type. This link will take you to the first page of the MPN.

Additional Information

If you do not have or do not know your PIN, you may request it at www.pin.ed.gov. Please keep in mind, if you are requesting a new PIN it will be sent to you via email in 3 business days. If an email address is not provided, it will take between 7-10 business days to receive a PIN via mail.
