HAND IN HAND: MORGAN STANLEY & DIRTY BUSINESS

Currently, Morgan Stanley is involved in various international business ventures that undermine their financial and ethical reputation. In particular, Morgan Stanley's business negotiations with the Chinese Development Bank (CDB), China International Capital Corporation (CICC), PetroChina IPO, Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) and the government of the People's Republic of China are of grave interest to Students for A Free Tibet, as well as many other human rights and environmental agencies worldwide.

In conjunction with the aforementioned business companies, Morgan Stanley finances business ventures such as the Three Gorges Dam project, the Gormo-Lhasa Railway project, and various energy resource extraction attempts in Tibet. In reaction to popular, Tibetan and Chinese opposition to such projects, the Chinese government has attempted to silence such widespread, uniform opposition through military force and other anti-democratic methods.

Despite repeated efforts, Morgan Stanley refuses to acknowledge or reply to inquiries initiated by human rights and environmental agencies, including the International Rivers Network, Students for A Free Tibet, the Free Tibet Campaign, and Friends of the Earth.

We at Indiana University Students for A Free Tibet insist that Morgan Stanley take financial and ethical responsibility for their support of the social, economic, and political injustices that are taking place in conjunction with their very own international business ventures. Only a complete withdrawl from any present and future funding will clear the Morgan Stanley name.
