Established in 1979 by Professor Norbu, (His Holiness, the Dalai Lama's brother) and his wife, Kunyang Norbu, the TCC was designed to be a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of educating the public about the plight of the Tibetan people. In June of 1987, a stupa was erected on the TCC grounds in memory of all beings that have died under oppression, particularly Tibetans at the hands of the communist Chinese government. Thus, it stands today as a welcomed symbol of global peace and justice.
