Sampling Plan and Design

We will follow the same methodology we have adopted for the ISSP surveys.

Namely, face to face interviews with a sample representative of the whole population aged 18 and over. Due to the sensitive nature of the subject, we propose to adopt a upper age limit of 70 years, if this is acceptable by the program.

Our sample design will include three stages:

i) All five districts of Cyprus , each district divided into rural and urban proportionate to the population

ii) Urban and rural areas divided into clusters and a number of clusters randomly selected

iii) Random selection of households and one member of each selected household.

We propose to conduct 800 interviews, unless there is a higher minimum limit set by the program.

Timetable

We assume that fieldwork will take around six weeks.

We would like to do the field work in September, ending early October 2004
