The Singing Hoosiers
America's Premiere Collegiate Concert Show Choir

The Singing Hoosiers shine as America's Premiere Collegiate Concert Show Choir. Averaging 115 members, the Singing Hoosiers feature collegiate performers from the world-renowned Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, as well as students with a variety of other majors, from business to chemistry to political science. They perform American popular music, jazz, and Broadway favorites with dazzling choreography, energy and style. Founded in 1950, the Singing Hoosiers celebrate their 60th Anniversary this year.

Annually, the Singing Hoosiers perform several concerts at home on the campus of IU Bloomington, including the Chimes of Christmas concert in December and the Spring Concert. The group also sings in opera and oratorio productions of the IU Jacobs School of Music and at Big Ten basketball games.

The Singing Hoosiers have appeared with such legendary entertainers as Bob Hope, Alan Sherman, Red Buttons, Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington, and Indiana's favorite son Hoagy Charmichael. They have also performed with opera legend Sylvia McNair and with several professional symphony orchestras, including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Pops.

With Maestro Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops, the Singing Hoosiers performed at Carnegie Hall in 1995 and appeared on a televised PBS Christmas special with Mel Torme. This partnership with the Pops has resulted in the release of several recordings on the Telarc International label. These include the Grammy-nominated A Disney Spectacular and The Music Man. They have also recorded The Magical Music of Disney, Hollywood's Greatest Musicals, and Magical Musicals.

Singing Hoosiers CDs

The Singing Hoosier's latest release, Christmas Time is Here (released in 2006), will make the perfect holiday gift! Recorded with Maestro Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops, Christmas Time is Here can be ordered in time for the holidays through Telarc International.

Also available through Telarc International are the Grammy-nominated A Disney Spectacular, Magical Music of Disney, and Puttin' on the Ritz.

Donating to The Singing Hoosiers

For many years the Alumni and Friends of the Singing Hoosiers have made donations for special projects and provided additional support for concert tours throughout the USA and the world through the yearly TELEFUND and other fundraising activities. This “Give Button” makes it much easier for donations to be made for those that have not been reached and is totally safe and secure through the Indiana University Foundation. Any donation, no matter how large or small by anyone who has been a member or has heard the Singing Hoosiers in concert or on one of its many recordings, will be deeply appreciated by the talented members of these “Indiana University Ambassadors of Song.”
