Laura Backstrom

I received my BA in Sociology from Fordham University in 2006. My areas of interest include gender, sexuality, the body, and social psychology. I am particularly interested in the social consequences of obesity, and my MA thesis looks at the role of body weight in attaining romantic and sexual relationships in young adulthood. I also currently teach Sexual Diversity. In addition to sociology, I enjoy traveling, art, writing, and running half-marathons.
