Christy Erving

I came to IU in Fall 2007 after receiving a B.A. in Sociology and Hispanic Studies from Rice University in 2007. I enjoy reading, attending church, singing in the gospel choir at IU, shopping, and eating at the various ethnic restaurants in the Bloomington area. I am broadly interested in the following substantive areas: medical sociology and race/ethnic relations. My master's thesis seeks to examine the underlying social mechanisms contributing to the disparity in chronic health conditions for African-Americans and Afro-Caribbeans in the United States.
