Samuel Kye is a first-year graduate student currently pursuing his M.A. and PhD in Sociology. He joins the Department of Sociology at Indiana University after coming from Houston, TX, where he spent a year working with Dr. Elaine Howard Ecklund as a post-baccalaureate fellow with the Department of Sociology at Rice University. Prior to his time at Rice, he earned his BA in Sociology at Wheaton College (IL), graduating in May 2011. Sam’s broad research interests include stratification, neighborhood effects, race and ethnicity, social psychology, and educational inequality. Specifically, his current research interests are in the study of neighborhood effects within ethnic communities, particularly as they relate to education, race relations, and ethnic identity formation.
