Oren Pizmony-Levy

I began my academic career as an undergraduate student at Tel-Aviv University (TAU) where I chose Political Science and Educational Policy as my dual major. I arrived to IUB on fall 2005 and currently I'm a PhD student in the Department of Sociology and the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies – International and Comparative Education (dual-major). My research interests include political sociology, social movements, education / comparative education and social networks. More specifically, I examine the effects of contextual factors on participation in social-movements activism, and I explore how various global processes affecting local educational policy and practices worldwide.

In addition, I'm interested in Public Sociology. With my colleagues at the Israeli Gay Youth Organization (IGY) I'm conducting the National School Climate Survey and the Military Climate Survey which document the experiences of LGBT youth in Israel.

At my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, working out, meeting my friends and watching movies. One of my goals is to watch all the OSCAR award winning movies.
