Originally from Littleton, Colorado I received my BA in sociology and history from the University of Denver in 2003. Though I continue to enjoy topics in history, especially those related to collective behavior, violence, and gender relations, my current interests in sociology include deviance, sexuality, place, and social psychology. I recently completed my MA thesis where I take a qualitative approach to identify the differences and similarities African American individuals impute to their roles as parents, workers, and spouses compared to white individuals. My current research includes exploring the relationship between presentations of self, place, and identity among men who have sex with other men in public places. I also currently enjoy teaching, Deviant Behavior and Social Control.
