I am currently pursuing a double major PhD as a graduate student at IU through the departments of Sociology and Criminal Justice. My MA was completed in 2013 with the thesis, "Chronic Usage: An Assessment of Extralegal Deterrence and Marijuana Consumption." Before coming to IU, I completed my B.A. in Sociology at Florida Atlantic University, with a minor in Political Science and Spanish.
My interests include Deviant Behavior and Social Control, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Urban Sociology, Social Psychology, and Qualitative Methods. I also have a strong passion for teaching and am currently an associate instructor in the Department of Sociology at IU. Courses taught include S100 (Introduction to Sociology), and S320 (Deviant Behavior and Social Control). Most recently, I have begun to focus on the concept of “Edgework” (Lyng 1990) both personally and academically.
