SOCIOLOGY COMPUTING SERVICES
You will find that Indiana University, and the department of Sociology in particular, offers a wealth of computing resources. Indiana University is unique in providing the highest levels of computer access not only to faculty but also to the widest range of students. University Computing Services (UCS) began offering student computer consulting in the late 1960s. In 1989, I.U. led the nation in student computing access as the first campus to offer every student a computer account and access to electronic mail upon enrollment. Since that time, we have remained a leader in the provision of computer technology, especially regarding the Internet. I.U. is one of the first campuses to allow every faculty member and student to design and post their own World Wide Web (WWW) Internet home page. I.U. also supports its academic community with a wide range of software packages. The university regularly negotiates and purchases software licenses to allow the downloading and/or installation of software programs directly from IUWARE.
