Indiana University Social Entrepreneurship Inaugural Dinner

On October 18, 2006 the Social Entrepreneurship program at Indiana University celebrated their inauguration with a dinner at the University Place Hotel in Indianapolis. Over 150 students, faculty, community leaders, and invited guests attended the dinner and special presentations.
The evening featured presentations by special guest Michael S (Mickey) Maurer, Indiana Secretary of Commerce and President, Indiana Economic Development Corporation and Ann Nobles, Vice President of Corporate Affairs of Eli Lilly & Co.
The keynote presentation was an overview of the progress of “The Lilly MDR-TB Partnership: A Corporate Social Initiative in Action” presented by Dr. Patrizia Carlevaro, Head of International Aid Unit, Eli Lilly and Company, Geneva, Switzerland.
The evening was hosted by Leslie Lenkowsky, co-director of the Indiana University Social Entrepreneurship program and included welcoming remarks form the other co-chair Dr. Donald F. Kuratko, Executive Director, The Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation
IU Kelley School of Business; Dr. Astrid E. Megret, Dean, School of Public and Environmental Affairs, Indiana University, Bloomington; and Dr. Eugene R. Tempel, Executive Director, The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.
The dinner was the first public program for the new Social Entrepreneurship program. It is projected that starting in the 2007-2008 school year an annual conference will be held highlighting the most recent developments and leading practitioners in the field.
