Educating Our Students In and For the 21st Century: A Critical Community Conversation
On October 23rd, you will have the opportunity to participate in a conversation about the future of public education. The Foundation of Monroe County Community Schools will hold a town hall meeting from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on this evening in the Bloomington High School North Library as part of its continuing series entitled “Educating Our Students In and For the 21st Century: A Critical Community Conversation.”
This school year, the Foundation will again convene a series of conversations designed to specifically address public education in our community. In this first town hall meeting of the school year, our high school principals will discuss the current realities of education in our four high school programs. We will learn how our schools and our students are doing today, what efforts the school corporation will take to continue the process of improving school for all students, and what new models for delivering education we might consider for the benefit of our 21st century learners. Future efforts of the MCCSC Graduation Work Group will also be detailed.
Local personality, Mary Catherine Carmichael from the WFIU Noon Edition, will moderate this discussion among our panelists. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions and offer comments to our high school leaders regarding the future of high schools in the 21st Century.
Panelists
- Ed Brown, Hoosier Hills Career Center, Director
- Mark Fletcher, Bloomington High School South, Principal
- Jeffry Henderson, Bloomington High School North, Principal
- Chuck Holloway, Aurora Alternative High School, Principal
We ask you to please plan to attend this event and to encourage others in your circle of influence to attend also. Please feel free to distribute the attached PDF to anyone that should be included in this important conversation. This is our opportunity to collectively explore our expectations for our high schools and for educating our kids in the 21st Century.
