SoFA Preparing for Holiday Art Auction and Sale
November 12, 2008 at 1:00 pmThe SoFA Gallery is currently preparing for the annual Holiday Art Sale and Silent Auction to benefit the SoFA Gallery and the Friends of Art. The Art Sale and Auction is the Gallery’s only fundraising event of the year, and is very important in funding programs that provide an educational resource for the Henry Radford School of Fine Arts and the Bloomington community. The SoFA Gallery regularly presents works by national and international contemporary artists who are on the forefront of ideas related to contemporary art and issues. SoFA also provides an exhibition venue for faculty and student artists from the Henry Radford School of Fine Arts. Without community support the SoFA Gallery would not be able to present lectures by internationally renowned artists such as Anne Wilson, Kerry James Marshall, Alexis Rockman, and Joel Peter Witkin to name a few.
The Holiday Art Sale and Auction will comprise works made by IU School of Fine Arts faculty and students including jewelry, photography, painting, printmaking, ceramics and textiles, as well as donations from special invited guest artists. There will be jewelry pieces made specifically for this event by Indiana University metalsmithing and jewelry design students and faculty. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase beautiful wearable, functional and non-functional art pieces made by Indiana University student and faculty artists.
Art will be available for purchase from December 10th until December 12th from 12:00 -4:00p.m. On Friday December 12th from 7:00- 8:30p.m., a Silent Auction of the remaining works will be held. Any remaining items that have not been sold will be available for bids in the Silent Auction. Payments may be made by credit card, check, or cash. This will be a great time to purchase a unique gift, add to your collection, or just come for the thrill of the auction.
