Time-based art will keep you coming back
September 2, 2007 at 7:00 pmActivity and transformation will dominate the gallery space during our first exhibition of the fall season, TIMELAPSE (September 7 - October 5). Visitors who drop by the gallery on multiple occasions will find that many of the time-based works on display have drastically changed. Some of the artists will alter their works during gallery hours, allowing visitors to witness their process. Others will work on their pieces after hours so that visitors will be shocked to see that they have mysteriously transformed over night.
TIMELAPSE will include several scheduled performances - so plan ahead. German artist Achim Mohnè, a former IU artist in residence, will give a performance on turntables at the opening reception. He will play the ending grooves of vinyl records and reveal how dust has affected their surfaces. Joshua Brennan will give a series of performances from inside "the brain" of his mixed media sculptural installation, at the opening and closing receptions and during gallery hours throughout the month.
