Prerequisites:
Students should have completed a BA in Spanish or a related field and be enrolled in their first semester of an MA or PhD program.

Course Description:
This course on communicative language teaching takes as its point of departure the body of research on second language development. A full range of topics including grammar instruction,  the role of input and outpput, spoken and written communicative competence, and student evaluation are covered.  The primary focus of this course is the development of a working knowledge of priciples of language acquisition and language instruction and the application of these principles to everyday pedagogical practices.
