SPEA IUPUI and COP Forming a New School?
On February 16, SPEA and COP hosted a Town Hall Meeting featuring remarks by Charles Bantz, IUPUI Chancellor; Uday Sukhatme, IUPUI Vice Chancellor; Terry Baumer, Executive Associate Dean of SPEA IUPUI; and Patrick Rooney, Executive Director of the Center on Philanthropy. Alumni and other friends of SPEA IUPUI and COP were invited.
Faculty and staff from SPEA and COP have been meeting for several months to consider the concept in greater detail. The SPEA Alumni Association Board of Directors and IUPUI Alumni Council provided feedback to Executive Associate Dean Terry Baumer at their fall Board meetings. The latest ideas for how this proposal might proceed have been captured in a “Revised Concept Paper for a New School on the IUPUI Campus Dedicated to the Theme of Public Service.” This paper was presented at the Town Hall meeting on February 16. The concept paper notes, “This paper proposes creation of a new school on the IUPUI campus dedicated to the theme of public service. At the outset, the school would combine the current activities of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA-IUPUI) and the Center on Philanthropy (COP) at IUPUI. Over time, the vision of the new school, and the scope of its research, teaching and service activities, will evolve according to the changing needs of the community and the wishes of the school’s leadership, faculty, staff and other stakeholders.”
If you would like the concept paper and/or want to share your thoughts on this proposal, please contact Terry Baumer (email@example.com) and Patrick Rooney (firstname.lastname@example.org).
