Judge Cynthia Ayers was elected as a Superior Court Judge in January 1991, and is currently serving her fourth term. Ayers served as a Marion County Deputy Prosecutor from 1983 to 1985, and was in the private practice of law in Indianapolis from 1985 to 1988.

Ayers served as an adjunct professor, teaching business law, at Indiana Vocational Technical College in Indianapolis from 1985-1986. She was also a litigator before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for the Indiana Consumer Counselor from 1986 to 1988.

From 1985 to 1988, Ayers served as a Commissioner for the Marion Circuit Court. In 1988 she was appointed by the General Term of Superior Court Judges as the Master Commissioner of Marion Superior Title IV-D Court, hearing paternity and child support enforcement cases. She served as Judge in that court until her first election as a Superior Court Judge. From 2008 to 2011, Ayers was an adjunct professor at the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis.

Judge Ayers earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and an MPA in Personnel Management from IUPUI. She also holds a JD from the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis.
