Kevin Fortwendel currently serves as assistant vice president of principal gifts at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. In this role, he develops fundraising strategies to close transformative gifts for the university. Fortwendel has ten years of experience in higher education alumni relations and development including past positions at DePaul University College of Law and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and School of Law.

Prior to this, Fortwendel worked as a development manager at Access Community Health Network where he managed their capital campaign to build new health centers in medically underserved Chicago neighborhoods. He also helped low-income, rural communities develop water and wastewater infrastructure as a program manager at the Indiana Rural Community Assistance Program. In addition, he has served as treasurer on the boards of Bella Voce and the Indiana University GLBT Alumni Association.

Kevin Fortwendel earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs in 1997, with highest distinction, at IU Bloomington and a Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies at IUPUI in 2008.
