Share your professional experiences: Career Mentors
Mentor a SPEA student through SPEA’s one-on-one program. Alumni mentors will have the chance to review students’ applications, choose a compatible mentee, and establish a one-year mentor relationship. This is a unique opportunity for a career professional to guide a student in defining his/her aspirations and career path. Read more about program expectations and goals.
Share your network: Internships and Job Leads
Help identify internship and job opportunities and possibly create an internship for a SPEA student at your organization or another employer. By lending your network to SPEA, the Career Development Office can expand its employer outreach and provide students with increased opportunities. Share your referral through the internship and job leads form.
Share your advice: Career Insights Series and LinkedIn Career Advice
Volunteer to meet with students for mock or informational interviews, career advice and networking tips. Do your travels bring you near Bloomington or Indianapolis? There may be an opportunity to meet with students. Otherwise, technology such as video conferencing can allow for virtual meetings. Learn more.
Also, join the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) Career Advice LinkedIn subgroup. Members serve as informal advisors and answer questions via LinkedIn that students (and alumni) may have about SPEA and career options in their desired field(s).
