Denver, Colorado
Annually, the Career Development Office organizes its Denver trip, which takes place before the Thanksgiving break. Denver, with its environmental and energy industries and its many federal offices & agencies in the Greater Denver Area (2nd largest concentration of federal jobs in the US, Washington DC is the first), has been an increasingly popular choice for SPEA students post-graduation. This trip provides excellent educational and networking opportunities for current students to meet with, and learn from, Denver professionals. In 2011, students had the opportunity to speak with 25+ different organizations in the public, private, and non-profit sectors through career panels & site visits. 20+ additional alumni and employer representatives were present at the Thursday evening's networking event. In 2011, employers included National Renewable Energy Laboratory - NREL, the Colorado Department of Transportation, the Mile High United Way, and the US National Park Service among many others. Please note: trips are *FREE*; but students are responsible for their own travel, accommodations, and most meals. The Career Development Office will negotiate a reduced rate at a nearby hotel for attending students.
