Marlene Gillen “retired” to Bloomington in 2005 after a 30+ year business career. The majority of her professional experience is in project and functional management for American Airlines/SABRE Holdings, Inc. where she was Manager of Quality Assurance for software development and testing. She has also worked in the non-profit sector in development/fundraising and administration for a private high school in New Jersey and locally for Cardinal Stage Company. Her IU connection began in 2005 as Career Services Consultant and Coach for the Undergraduate Career Services Office (UCSO) at the Kelley School of Business.
Marlene greatly enjoys her role as a Career Advisor and mentor to SPEA students and focuses on providing individual attention to meet their specific needs. In particular, Marlene finds working with SPEA undergraduate students most rewarding.
In her free time, Marlene volunteers with the IU Health/Bloomington Hospital Hospice program and Cardinal Stage Company. For fun she likes traveling the back roads of southern Indiana, watching independent films, and spending weekends at her house at Lake Lemon. She has two amazing grandchildren, Aidan and Sydney, and a precocious cat, Lily.
