Katie is a Senior Career Advisor for the Career Development Office. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in History from St. Cloud State University in the frozen tundra of St. Cloud, Minnesota, her home town. When not shivering or swatting mosquitoes, she researched and presented her thesis at the annual student research colloquium. After graduation, Katie went on to earn a Masters of Medieval Studies at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Focusing on Anglo-Saxon military history and loyalty issues, she presented a paper while at WMU at the International Congress on Medieval Studies on propaganda in Anglo-Saxon literature and also studied various dead languages. While working on her masters, Katie taught a history/literature course called Heroes and Villains of the Middle Ages for two years. Katie enjoys advising undergraduates, masters, and alumni at SPEA as well as teaching an online section of V252/H267. In addition, Katie works on the CDO website, assists with the scholarship fund, and collects and analyzes employment data. In her free time, Katie enjoys reading, sewing, knitting, watching poorly produced B-movies, and gardening. Katie also is married, has a new son, and 2 kitties.
