Launching a Career

A SPEA degree gives you a head start toward a meaningful and rewarding career and gives you the versatility to change careers as your interests and the economy shift. In the most recent survey of SPEA undergraduate students, 91% found employment after leaving campus. They are divided between business (61%), the public sector (29%), and nonprofits (10%). About half of SPEA's graduates remain in Indiana, while other popular destinations include the Chicago area and the Washington DC-Boston corridor. Starting salaries for nearly 40% of the undergrads top $40,000.

SPEA Success Stories

Image of Matt CatanzariteMatt Catanzarite grew up in Indianapolis. After graduating from Lawrence North High School, he developed an interest in the way cities are planned and managed. He earned a degree in Management from SPEA and now works for a major Chicago transportation firm where he is Director of Social Responsibility, a position he helped create.



Megan CaldwellMegan Caldwell grew up in Lafayette, California. She earned a degree in Policy Analysis from SPEA and a companion degree in Arabic, also from IU. While at SPEA, she helped organize a Little 500 bicycling team and competed in the race. Even before graduating, she was offered a position in Washington, D.C. for one of the nation’s largest consulting firms.
