National Research Council Ranking

In a recently released national ranking of 5,000 university doctoral programs, the School of Public and Environmental affairs was recognized for outstanding programs in two disciplines.
The National Research Council ranked the doctoral program in Public Affairs ranks between #1 and #11 overall in the rankings of programs in public affairs/policy/administration. The Joint Program in Public Policy (with the Department of Political Science) ranks between #2 and #4.
The rankings also bring SPEA to the top of doctoral programs at Indiana University as well. "The NRC assessment confirms that SPEA offers doctoral programs that are among the very best in the nation in public affairs and public policy," said John Graham, dean of the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs. "It is a credit to our outstanding faculty and our talented and dedicated students."
Data for these rankings capture program activity between 2002 and 2006 in 59 fields of study. These rankings are based on measures of doctoral program quality in a particular field, not just perceived rankings based on prestige.The rankings used 21 measures of quality.
