Erika Smith, A Columnist with an Edge, Speaks at SPEA
Bloomington, Indiana --
Indianapolis Star columnist Erika D. Smith will be bringing her unique outlook on urban affairs, entertainment and technology to the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University Bloomington.
Smith will be speaking at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19th in room 167 at SPEA. Her talk is open to the public and there is no charge. Smith’s presentation is part of the 40th Anniversary celebration at SPEA, a school where students and faculty focus on many of the topics that are the subjects of Smith’s columns.
She writes about diversity, neighborhood redevelopment and mass transit. She joined The Star in August of 2005 as a business reporter and a technology columnist. Prior to moving to Indianapolis, Smith lived and worked in Akron, Ohio, where she worked first as a copy editor and then as a business reporter at the The Akron Beacon Journal. While there, she won first place for business reporting from the Associated Press Society of Ohio. She is a graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Smith grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland.
